Entry #4- Reading Response

The article was an entertaining and very interesting read. The writer addressed a major issue impacting our societies worldwide (especially western society) in a whimsical manner. This made it an easy read, but notwithstanding he brought his point clearly across and I think his quaint analogies forced home his view point even more. Personally, I enjoyed the reading due to the fact that the articles sentiments and opinions held by myself. The farce idea of beauty purported by a few who has the resources needed to be global influencers worldwide have seriously damaged the self esteem of our women and destroyed happy homes and marriages. From the foundation of times we've always been taught that true beauty comes from within and outward looks count minimal. Don't agree with me? Then answer me this, how many times have good looks ever saved a relationship? The idea of all women pursuing this common appearance would be quite ridiculous and would take away from their own personal in...

Entry #3- What is an Introduction

An introduction is essentially used to give the reader a clear of the topic or issue that's about to be presented. I do not think the introduction is the most important part of an essay since it only gives a general overview of what will be discussed not the details of the discussion that would be more important. However i think the introduction plays an essential role in establishing the purpose and content of the piece. If i were to write an essay some elements i would implement would be providing background information on the topic/issue I'm presenting. I would also establish parameters in terms of my approach on the issue. Also, i would give a broad idea of my approach and structure of the topic. Diffrent types of essays require different elements; depending on the topic i may start of by presenting statistics, use a quote or an analogy or even by asking a question. Here is an example: "Is Tourism the answer to Caribbean countries economic situations and can it achiev...

Entry #2 Assignment Brainstorming

The exercise was light and refreshing to begin with. As i thought of the word 'Crisis' a number of words came to mind from both the postive and negative side of the spectrum. What I did find challenging though was the grouping of these words into three (3) categories. After brainstorming and coming up with a few words I then had to find appropriate categories to place them in. These were, 'Recession' which would describe the negative effects on the people and the economy, this category included words like poor, famine, unemployment, hunger and death. Also i added a category called 'Crime' which speaks towards national security which included words like murder, robbery, kidnapping and war. Notwithstanding there are positive aspects to brainstorming the word 'Crisis' and were categorised under the heading of 'Hope', they are; Peace, love, God and Order. I've learnt that i can stimulate many ideas from brainstorming one word or topic which woul...
